FOR YOUR OWN SAFETY
Money
• Do not handle money in public and never show large amounts to others. Separate in advance what is necessary for your small expenses (transport, food, among others);
• When making withdrawal, still inside the bank branch, put your money in a hidden place;
• If you need to withdraw large amounts, do so accompanied by someone you trust;
• When using ATMs, give preference to busy places and do not accept help from a stranger. If necessary request the presence of a bank employee;
• Avoid carrying more than one credit card.

Backpacks, handbags and bags
• Upon landing, make sure that your luggage is as exactly as it was at the time of departure;
• Carry your handbag on the front, protected by your arms and pay particular attention when opening it.

Safety at home
• Do not let people offering unsolicited services (plumbers, electricians etc.) entering your home.

Safety in public areas
• Do not leave your belongings unattended;
• Do not give personal information to strangers;
• Carry cell phones, laptops or cameras discreetly;
• Avoid the action of offenders by not showing valuables (jewelry, bracelets, necklaces, watches, among others);
• Use only registered transportation (line buses, taxi stations, Uber).

Documents
• Carry a copy of your passport and keep the original in a safe place;
• In case of loss or theft of documents, look for the nearest police station and make an occurrence report (B.O.), reporting all objects lost or stolen. This registration is one of the indispensable requirements to ask for a new passport from the consular service of your country.
• If you lose your official RNE, you have to notify it to the Federal Police and pay an additional fee (R$ 502,78, approximately);
• If you lose traveler checks and / or credit cards, notify the administrator immediately.

In case of assault
• In case of assault, do not react. Avoid making abrupte gestures that might be mistaken for reaction on your part. Find the nearest police station to report the occurrence.
