UEL has been offering Portuguese classes since 2005. The groups are usually formed twice a year, at the beginning of each semester. Predominantly, the Portuguese classes are offered at the Languages Center of UEL (IRCH) and through extension programs such as Be UEL and Languages Without Borders (ISF).
